Our Service Wrinkles

We take our worship seriously but also like to inject a bit of humor in a conservative way. On Easter, as a prelude to the service, we had a friendly Easter Bonnet decoration competition complete with an Easter parade into the Sanctuary. The winning bonnet is pictured in the still photograph at the end of the video. We all had a good start to the wonderful service.

As a second event to add humor to our service, we had a “Bibb Sunday” with all the service attendees who wished wearing bibb overalls, bibb aprons, or anything else “bibbie” and appropriate.

The Wednesday night meeting of our youth group typically involves a teaching event, some socialization, pretty decent snacks and occasionally, after some productive effort has been exhausted, a purely entertainment event. The following video documents a game of Slip-n-Slide ball taking place on West End’s north lawn.

WE HAVE THE PRIVILIGE OF HAVING A SERIES OF SIX CLASSES TAUGHT BY LOCAL ATTORNEY PATRICK CAVER ON THE SUBJECT OF “CRIMINALS IN THE BIBLE”. THE CLASSES ARE AT 5:00 PM, SUNDAYS APRIL 7, 14, 28 AND MAY 5 AND 12 (2019). THE FOLLOWING VIDEO IS THE FIRST 10 MINUTES OF THE FIRST CLASS, TAUGHT ON MARCH 31.

SUNDAY, APRIL 15, WE HAD OUR PALM SUNDAY SERVICE WITH THE PROCESSION OF OUR YOUNG FOLKS INTO THE SANCTUARY TO PLACE PALM LEAVES IN JESUS’ PATH. THEY PERFORMED TO A SHORT VIDEO PRODUCED BY MATT TURNER AND WE ALL ENJOYED THE SPECTACLE OF OUR CHURCH CHILDREN BEING EXTRAUDINARY!

OUR FOURTH OF JULY SERVICE, OUR MINISTER, REVEREND RICHARD CASSIS, CHOSE A PATRIOTIC THEME OF DECORATION AND ATTIRE APPROPRIATE TO THE MESSAGE. MAY AMERICA ALWAYS TRUST IN GOD!!!

Our Sunday Night service is a contemporary style worship with an upbeat flavor. Our music presenters have a large portion of the service and never fail to present their own form of a message with energy. Our Master of Music, Mala Patterson, arranges a fulfilling performance utilizing the talents of a number of performers including Olivia Travers, Alyson Halbrooks, Alana Travers, Jay Lewis and Zoey Halbrooks. We have a good time worshiping and want everyone to feel welcome visiting us, YA’LL COME!

Our YouTube page contains additional videos from our events. If you have watched one of the above videos you will be given the opportunity to subscribe and be notified whenever we post additional media.

Our multi decade tradition of a visit from Santa Claus for our neighborhood and church kids, along with gifts and treats took place again in December of 2019. A good time was had by all.
